Events

Hi Everyone

We have recently completed our plans for the signature initiative of Transition Town Peterborough .The first phase of the initiative is expected to take at least a year. It is called Resilient Peterborough Everywhen 2030.
The plan will be introduced to the general public iin the fall edition of The Greenzine, available around the first of October.
However those who register for our Transitioners Orientation Program on Sept 21st as posted here on Facebook will preview the plan and implementation process as well as what has come to be known as Open Space Technology. We are in the larger Dining Hall at Sadleir House and we will have our first attempt at a timeline to 2030. We hope it will stand on its feet ! Ok OST is utilized by transitioners around the world to engage and empower folks to participate and take action beyond their own self interest....community building.
The plan calls for the creation of faciitator teams and scribes to implement the process throughout the community. So the Transitioners Orientation Program is a great way to have a look at our process by participating in it ...doing it before you're doing it we use to say!
This is a Loonie or Toonie donation event to help pay for the room .But please register with our TRI Registrar Joan Michaels in advance at [email protected] or 743 8032

This introductory course first presented in the spring of 2009, focuses on the food producing aspects of permaculture design, with an emphasis on perennial edible landscapes, and exploring what it means to allow nature to do the work, while increasing yields and decreasing inputs.

This course is spread over two weeks to allow some study and review as follows:-

Sat. Sept. 12th: 10 am to 4:30 pm

About the Instructors

Trent Rhode is a certified permaculture designer as well as a certified permaculture teacher, and has been avidly and continually studying, teaching, practicing, and writing about permaculture, ecology and ecological farming and gardening for the past five years. He has been working and experimenting on four properties in Ontario since 2005, designing and creating self maintaining edible forest gardens and other permaculture systems, and he has worked in several organic gardens in the province, commercial and private, recently beginning work within Peterborough on community and residential garden design, implementation and maintenance.

Jennifer Elchuk (a.k.a. Opal) is an artist, teacher, outdoor educator and expressive arts instructor. She has studied permaculture theory, as well as having immersed herself in natural ecosystems to learn the wisdom of the land first hand. Nature plays an important role in her teaching, as she strives to lead outdoor education experiences that connect her students to the land and allow the creativity of the natural world to inspire and inform.
